After discussion with my school leadership team, the Students Need School Libraries parent brochure is now included in the school prospectus that is given to visitors and prospective parents. At our Open Day, we talked to tour groups about the role of the teacher librarian and the library programs that we offer, making reference to the brochure. We also suggested that the questions on the back of the brochure can be used as a guide as to what to look for and ask when visiting other school libraries. The response was very positive with people looking in their packs to find the brochure and many saying they would definitely use it when visiting other schools.

We really need parents to be asking questions about the staffing and resourcing of the library and school tours and open days are a golden opportunity. If you haven't already looked at the brochure I encourage you to download a copy and use it when talking to parents.
