This flyer is designed to:
1. Promote the relevance and importance of school libraries to students
2. Share these messages with people outside the "bubble"of people who already know about the worrying decline in school library services around Australia

What you can do:

Approach local businesses to ask if they will support the campaign by printing these and placing some in a visible location.
Approach medical and community centres to hang one (of each side) on their notice boards.
Hand some out to parents at a school that needs help with their school library services.j
Put some near the school uniform shop.
Email us with your good idea to add to this list.

Tips for sharing

Promote our new flyer with businesses and other public places.

Our advice is to start with allies (e.g. bookstores, toy stores) and parent-friendly places (e.g. parents rooms at local shops, play gyms and kids clothing shops).

Here are some tips for starting the conversation:

Ask to speak to the owner/manager.
"I'm involved with a campaign called Students Need School Libraries" and "I'm not sure how much you know about the situation with school libraries in Australia?"
- Provide information about the benefits of school libraries.
- Discuss declining qualified staff and the impact on student learning, mention that most parents have no idea this is happening.
Ask for:
- Individual business support on social media and printing some pamphlets to have in a visible spot (e.g. by the register).
- Potential possibilities to connect with networks of similar businesses. Can they alert like-minded businesses?
- Them to sign up to our newsletter and/or to connect via FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram
Connect them with our website.

Use the letter of introduction, leave it with staff if the manager is unavailable.

Create a pack of information, with the letter, media kit and flyer.
