Snapshot of a School Library During COVID-19 #9

School libraries during covid

The Library Team at a state high school in WA have been called stars by their appreciative parents as they work hard to support the students and staff during COVID-19.

What has been the focus for your school library/role during the COVID-19 Crisis?
Making sure that all our staff and students knew that we would be here for them physically as much as we can and online. For the students who were onsite making sure that they were welcome and we enjoyed spending time with them.

What major tasks have you achieved?
Lots of online trials and being available as much as we can 24/7. This has given us time to promote our online learning platforms. Providing one to one assistance for staff who are not confident with IT

What has been the result for staff and/or students?
More use of our online platforms. One parent's comment was that we were stars providing her daughter with not only books but help to move forward with her learning because she was given ideas but more importantly she felt we cared.
