International School Library Day 2019

October 22, 2019 is International School Library Day. What an exciting way to celebrate school libraries and everything they do for school students and school communities.

School libraries may provide the only place a child has access to books. Or maybe the school library is a place of refuge for a child, a place to meet other like-minded students, join a book club, get support for an assignment, compete in table-top gaming, learn coding, or be taught to evaluate a website. Whatever the reason, join us in celebrating school libraries this October 22nd.

ALIA has shared some fantastic ideas for getting involved and has created a range of free-to-download resources, including posters and social media assets. You can access these on the ALIA website.

And if one day just isn't enough to capture your love of school libraries, October has been named International School Library Month. You can find more details about the month-long celebration, as well as posters, bookmarks and other resources, on the International Association of School Librarianship website.
